Marty Fields

Marty Fields is a standup comedian who has earned his stripes with his quick wit and the ability to make people laugh at every delivery that he makes. Based in Melbourne, Marty Fields has performed at all the prominent clubs and events in the comedy circuit all over Australia and New Zealand and throughout the world.

Son of Maurie Fields, Aussie comedian and actress Val Jellay, Marty Fields’s natural course was to train in the performing arts, which led to a 15 year stint at the Melba Conservatorium, where he studied piano, voice and music theory. He made his first foray into show biz at the tender age of 14 as a professional musician, was a member of several rock bands, and worked as a bar pianist and session vocalist as well.

Marty Fields started his career in standup comedy in 1987, with a four year run on Hey, Hey, it’s Saturday. He was also a comedian on a game show entitled Blankety Blanks and appeared on the show Battle of the Sexes.

Marty has also made his mark as a writer, and some of his best writing works are three comedy books, named Marty Fields’ Funny Things, Takeaway Jokes and Dinkum Aussie Jokes. He wrote regularly in a column for The Herald Sun during 2011-2012.

Some of Marty Fields’s better-known radio performances include his series Afternoons with Denis Walter, Sundays with Tom Elliot and Nightline with Bruce and Phil on the radio network 3AW.

Marty Fields has also had a flourishing television and stage acting career. He appeared on stage musicals like High Society, Three Guys Naked from the Waist Down and Crazy for You. He also received Green Room Award nominations for his productions as Best Actor in a Musical.   

Marty uses his musical talent to complement his standup routines, which result in some remarkable jingles and special songs which are a hit at most of the corporate events where he performs. His list of satisfied corporate clients includes Toyota, Coca Cola, McDonalds, Ford, The AFL, Shell, IBM, and Cadbury.
