Joel Creasey

This comedian just exudes energy from the instance that he steps on to the stage. If you are watching Joel Creasey, you need to have your wits about you, because he is really fast, and you don’t want to miss out a single of his one-liners which just seem to keep coming.

Nicknamed as Australia’s “Acid Tongue Prince”, Joel Creasey is quick to make any individual or group a target of his cynical humor, which befits the nickname given to him.

Born in Perth in 1991, Joel Creasey was the joker in the pack at home and started getting involved with stand-up comedy from the age of fifteen. Joel “came out” at the age of 16 in 2007 to his friends and family, which basically means that he declared his homosexuality publicly.

Joel passed out of secondary school from Wesley College, but dropped out of Curtin University where he was studying political science, for a career in stand-up comedy.

Joel had already made his first foray into the world of comedy at seventeen when he entered an Australian stand-up comedy competition, Raw Comedy, and qualified for the finals. He was just nineteen when he entered the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2010 with a show entitled Slumber Party. This earned him a nomination for the Best Newcomer. Creasey’s second show, Political Animal was well-received, and he presented it again, at several shows. The third show that Joel Creasey performed in was Naked, which won him accolades, and served to establish himself firmly in the world of stand-up comedy.

2013 ushered in a brand new series of 23 tours all over Australia for Creasey, with Rock God, and for which he received nominations at the Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals. He began to perform overseas, with shows at Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia in 2014. Creasey also participated in the Canadian comedy festival in Montreal, Just for Laughs, in the same year. He then went on to present Rock God at the Fringe Festival in New York as well as at the Soho Theatre in London.

Joel Creasey has also ventured into writing by writing an episode for the television series Warehouse Comedy.

Joel Creasey has also made quite a presence on television in Australia over the last few years, since 2010. He co-hosted The Circle and was also a panelist for Studio 10 and shows like A League of their Own, Tractor Monkeys and The Project. Creasey also appeared in 20 to 1 and It’s a Date. He produced stand-up comedy shows for  Just for Laughs and Comedy up Late.
