Simon Kennedy

A comedian with a track record of over 12 years, as writer, broadcaster and stand-up comedian, Simon Kennedy is one of the most renowned corporate entertainers in Australia today. Simon is well-known on The Show With No Name which he hosted for five years, and he has also made a name for his performances on Nova 96.9 FM’s Kennedy & Philp. This is what bears testimony to the highly versatile, intelligent, insightful and extremely talented stand-up comedian called Simon Kennedy.

Simon lost his mother to the 9/11 attacks – she was onboard Flight 77 which crashed into the Pentagon in 2001. This was a major factor that changed his life and shaped his comedy career, for example, since then he developed a hatred of racism, so all his acts are of a very broad-minded nature.

Simon Kennedy launched his first major comedy gig in 2001 with his own show Fishing for Cigars at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival show. He just managed to break even, but this encouraged him to push on ahead.

The next year was successful for Simon, with the Angina Monologues, at the Old Fitzroy Hotel Theatre which he also performed at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2002. In 2003, Simon launched his very own show entitled The Show With No Name also at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, which ran continuously for 5 years at various venues. The highlight of 2005-2007 was Simon Kennedy Stands Up! which featured at the Powerhouse Theatre in Brisbane.

Simon Kennedy has also been very active in terms of TV appearances on Stand Up Australia, the Joker Poker Series 1 & 2 on Channel 10, and the Today Show on Channel 9. He was also prominent in Harry’s Practice and Home & Away on Channel 7,  and was a popular fixture in ONE HD’s Thursday Night Live. Simon also appeared in several television commercials in the UK and Australia and had the distinction of being a finalist in NBC Network’s Last Comic Standing. Today, Simon is in the process of developing a few indigenous TV projects of his own.

As a multi-talented personality, Simon Kennedy’s talents do not end in just standing on a stage and spouting out one-liners. He is a skilled voice artist as well, and did the voiceover of all the voices in a few award-winning short films, Atonement Tonight, (a parody of the Iraq War), Barney and The Whitehouse.

Among his other various talents, Simon Kennedy is also a prolific writer, having the distinction of being the chief creative writer for the Nova Radio Network, where he worked for seven years.

Simon Kennedy also has a few awards under his belt, including the award for the Best Comedy Segment presented by the Commercial Radio Industry Awards and The Best Radio Production award in 2004,
